YOUTH TOUR 2024

June 15-21

Cass County Electric Cooperative holds an essay contest for local high schools to select two Youth Tour students each year.

  • To enter the contest, you must be a sophomore or junior in high school.

  • Your parent(s)/guardian(s) must be served by Cass County Electric Cooperative.

  • Essay Question:

    • If chosen as a Youth Tour delegate, you will be traveling to Washington, D.C., to experience and learn about America's rich history. What moment in American history do you wish you had been a part of and what would you have contributed?

  • Submissions are judged by an outside party with a background in history and English.

  • The quality of work is more important than quantity. There are no requirements for project length. View the grading rubric here.

  • Essays are due by January 19, 2024.

More than 1,500 high school students nationwide participate in the annual Electric Cooperative Youth Tour in Washington, D.C. The Youth Tour consists of a fast-paced, intense week of learning about history and government, visiting with the congressional delegation, becoming more knowledgeable about the cooperative business model, and touring museums, national monuments, and memorials. Let’s meet the students representing Cass County Electric Cooperative.
