Employee COVID-19 Safety Measures

Safe Work Practices

At Cass County Electric Cooperative, the safety and wellbeing of our consumer-members, employees, and communities are at the forefront of everything we do. We acknowledge the fact that having others visit your home during this time can be concerning. As a result, we are doing everything we can to mitigate any risks associated with our presence in your home or workplace. Nevertheless, we understand that you depend on us to keep your home and business powered. If we must visit, we have implemented updated safe work practices and guidelines for our office staff, field technicians, and line crews to follow.

Based on recommendations from the Center for Disease Control, we have implemented the guidelines below. Until further notice, we need to keep any necessary home visits as brief and focused as possible, long enough to complete the work we are scheduled to complete. We ask that you read these items to ensure that we are mutually respectful while on your site.

Cleaning Procedures

• We have implemented robust cleaning procedures for the following items so you can have confidence that we are minimizing the potential of transferring the COVID-19 virus to your home or business.

  • Workspaces

  • Common areas

  • Door hardware

  • Tablets and cell phones

  • Vehicles

  • Tools

  • Equipment

• Tool sharing is discouraged; if tools need to be shared among employees, the tool will be disinfected after use.

• Our team is required to wash their hands often with soap and water. We are also asking them to sanitize with alcohol-based sanitizer when hand washing is not possible.

• As a precaution, our team has been asked not to shake hands at this time.

• Employees were required to complete our COVID-19 safety training course.

Distancing Guidelines

• Cooperative employees are limited to the minimum number of individuals needed to complete the job safely.

• All employees are required to maintain a 6’ distance between themselves and others. This includes consumer-members, contractors, and subcontractors.

• If two or more employees are dispatched to the same site, and it does not impede their safety, all employees are required to wear the following personal protective equipment (PPE) when coming into contact with the general public:

  • Face mask/covering (N95, arc-rated, disposable)

  • Safety glasses

  • Gloves (appropriate for the work being done)

• The PPE mentioned above is in addition to any PPE required based on the potential hazards of the scope of work to be performed.

• Only two employees are allowed to ride in the same vehicle at any time.

Illness

• Our employees are closely monitoring their health and following the state and CDC guidelines.

• In the event there is any individual who is presenting symptoms or fears they have been exposed they must report their illness immediately to their supervisor and self-quarantine for 14 days.

Your Home or Business

• If you or anyone in your home has traveled outside of the United States or to any of the designated hotspots within the United States in the last 14 days, please let us know, so we know if extra precautions need to be taken.

• If you or any other members of your household have experienced any of the COVID-19 symptoms, please let us know so your appointment can be rescheduled.
